Student Debt Weighs Heavily on Graduates

The average amount of federal student debt per borrower is $29,000, and more than 8 million borrowers are in default on their student loans. With average starting salaries for college graduates who studied the humanities at $38,000, paying off the loans is a huge burden.

College Students Concerned with Job Prospects

A recent study from Accenture Strategy found that 49 percent of recent college grads described themselves as underemployed or working in a job that doesn't require a college degree. Employment prospects affect their college choices, with 82 percent of recent grads considering the job market before selecting their major. A little more than half (52 percent) reported being employed full time.
